What’s up with the Maruti guys. I always fail to understand why they tinker with their old and successful car models. Take for example Old Maruti Zen, a hugely successful and popular car, it’s production was stopped for reasons only known to Maruti. They introduced Zen Estillo in place of it and this new car was a huge debacle. It was an out of flavor car with less resale value compared to other Maruti cars.

I can think of only one reason why Maruti introduced the new Wagon R. Actually Indian customer mindset is very mileage centric. Looks are the last prioirty if you are selling a car to Indian customer.

That is the reason why this mini bus looking car is the third best selling car in the recent times in India. Let me tell you some not so good features about this car. If you are driving Wagon R at pretty high speeds ( more than 100 kms per hour ) and you take a sharp turn, there is a good chance that the car might topple. On road stability of this car is pretty bad at high speeds, thanks to it’s shape.

Back to the newly launched Wagon R, let me tell you what changes the great Maruti engineers have done, firstly they have borrowed the pretty successful high mileage K Series engine of A-Star, and as this engine requires the body to be light, they have made Wagon R body lighter, so expect greater damage to your car in case of an accident. Yes, you can say that the mileage of the car is improved, but at the cost of safety.

Team India in World T-20

Ohh man, what a team we have in the world cup T-20. Pathetic is the word that best suites this team. No. 1 problem, Gautam Gambhir, he converts triples into doubles and doubles into singles. The way he got out in the do or die match against Sri-Lanka would even put gully cricketers to shame. Then come to Raina, a tiger at home and a mediocre anywhere else. Though he scored a lot of runs, but he himself will never rate this innings as a good one. Let’s come back to our captain cool, MS Dhoni, one question to you dude, what were you doing in the middle. Just thinking about how much more money that you will get in the next year IPL bidding. You totally screwed up India’s chances in the world cup. Apart from a single six, you were unable to even mid any ball. First 10 overs, India got a decent 90 runs, and in the next ten overs courtesy you and Raina, India got only 73 runs. India got only 37 runs in last five overs, with 7 wickets in hand, can we see worse than this. It was like you guys never even tried to slog the bowlers. In my view the game was lost in first half itself. We all know that Indian bowlers are mediocre, but after this T-20 world cup we also know that Indian players are paper tigers, kings at home and jokers outside.

And one more thing, it is Sehwag always who thrashes the oppostion, even if he plays 10 balls, but Dhoni never praises him. And see what you guys have achieved without him, just nothing. Now, time to introspect, who is to blame, is it Captain Cool Dhoni, or the chief selector ShriKanth who keeps sending guys like Vijay ( who can’t even defend single bouncer), or someone else. Yes, you guessed it right. There is only one reason why Indians were crushed out of the world cup without winning a single match. And the reason is IPL. Because of this stupid IPL played on flat pitches in India we made heroes out of nothing. It was very easy for Yusuf Pathan and M. Vijay to hit centuries on flat Indian pitches, and everyone started thinking that they were the Sehwags and Gilchrists in the making. But once exposed to fast and bouncy tracks they were below mediocre players. And because of this stupid IPL, we lost one of our smashers Sehwag to injury. It is high time for BCCI to look into this IPL thing before it is too late.

Funny Product Review – Pepsi Cold Drink

In one of my college events where I was a coordinator, the chief guest was some top executive from Coca Cola. And I innocently or rather accidentally served him Pepsi. And this was enough for him to take a dig at me and my team. When he was invited to say a few words over the stage, he thoroughly expressed his displeasure for being served a Coca Cola cold drink rather than Pepsi. I really thought that his reaction was unfounded. He was reacting as if we have served him some poisonous adulterated drink.

Enough of Pepsi vs Coke, let’s get back to our Pepsi review. What’s up with these Pepsi guys. The Delhi based Center for Science and Environment (CSE) reveals that it has conducted a study on samples of 12 major soft drink brands sold in the country for the residual levels of pesticides and found the levels to be far too high when compared with the same in the samples from developed countries (1). That means a pepsi in India or other developing countries is worse than a pepsi in other developed nations. And we all know that pesticides are serious carcinogens.

The average pH of Pepsi is 3.4, enough to dissolve your teeth and bones and cause kidney stones(2). In fact a chronic kidney disease is very common in the US and the reasons have been traced to Pepsi. Actually there is phosphoric acid in Pepsi which leads to dialysis(3). So it can be detrimental to Diabetes patients.

In fact pepsi has been used as a household cleaner, be it cleaning a toilet, removing rust spots from car bumpers, remove grease from clothes or to loosen a rusted bolt, everywhere Pepsi emerges a winner(4). I wonder what will this wonderful cold drink do when it gets inside your stomach.

How can India still reach T-20 World Cup Semi Finals

Yes, despite the dismal performance of team India in the 20-20 world cup so far, India still holds a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. For that to happen Australia has to beat West Indies and then India has to beat Sri-Lanka by 20 runs or more. And if in case India elects to bowl first then India will have to achieve the target in 17.2 overs. Actually by beating Sri-Lanka comprehensively, Australia has made the chances of Indian team better. East or West, India is the best.

Power Crisis in India

We are in a huge power crisis in India presently. The biggest threat to Indian economy today is not terrorism, not maoist attacks, but the power crisis. Metro cities in India with the exception of Mumbai are reeeleing under tremendous power shortage. Take for example the cae of Bangalore,

(nicknamed Silicon Valley of India). Unfortonately there are daily power cuts of atleast two hours during day time. Companies have their backup as invertors and diesel generators. Small businesses are getting crushed in this looming power shortage situation. Load shedding has become part of life

here. Another emerging city Pune is also under acute power shortage. New businesses are really running out of the city because decreasing power supply. What’s worse is that summers in Pune are getting hotter and hotter ( touching 48 degree Celsius ) and the authorities take off electricity on whole Thursday (6 yo 7 hours). They do not think of housewives and old age people living in the houses. Pune used to be a pensioners paradise. Not anymore …

So what is the solution? In reality there is no short term solution. Everyday there is a news of a new IPO released, a new company formed for taclking power crises. Be it Reliance Power or Adani Power. What these companies lack is a vision. There execution is wrong which will put India in a deeper power crisis. For Example the Dadri Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh ( which is supposed to be largest power plant in Asia ) targets conversion of Natural Gas into electricity. Similarly Power plants of Adani Group are mostly thermal and are targetting Coal as source of energy. Not only will these things pollute our environment but will also cause global warming which is becoming a dangerous phenomena. And the worst part is that most of these power plants

are targeting fossil feuls which will run out of supply soon. In my next answer I will explain what is the answer to the looming power situation in India and how can India rise upon these difficulties and be on the right path

of becoming a developed nation.
