What’s up with the Maruti guys. I always fail to understand why they tinker with their old and successful car models. Take for example Old Maruti Zen, a hugely successful and popular car, it’s production was stopped for reasons only known to Maruti. They introduced Zen Estillo in place of it and this new car was a huge debacle. It was an out of flavor car with less resale value compared to other Maruti cars.
I can think of only one reason why Maruti introduced the new Wagon R. Actually Indian customer mindset is very mileage centric. Looks are the last prioirty if you are selling a car to Indian customer.
That is the reason why this mini bus looking car is the third best selling car in the recent times in India. Let me tell you some not so good features about this car. If you are driving Wagon R at pretty high speeds ( more than 100 kms per hour ) and you take a sharp turn, there is a good chance that the car might topple. On road stability of this car is pretty bad at high speeds, thanks to it’s shape.
Back to the newly launched Wagon R, let me tell you what changes the great Maruti engineers have done, firstly they have borrowed the pretty successful high mileage K Series engine of A-Star, and as this engine requires the body to be light, they have made Wagon R body lighter, so expect greater damage to your car in case of an accident. Yes, you can say that the mileage of the car is improved, but at the cost of safety.
